Captain’s Address : How a Pit Stop Works

Guys, we see a frenzy of activity each time a racecar pulls into the pit stop as technicians scrambles to fix he car in record speed. Let’s find out what’s rollin’ inside.. Every Second Matters.


  1. Ready for action – Team gets call from engineer 20sec prior to racecar arrival to pit stop. About 17 Technicians stand-by with test equipments and tyres. Crew springs into action once car reach pitstop.
  2. Top Speed Arrival – The car coming in about 80km/hr. As the car comes to a stop, the 4 wheel gun guys will release the nuts on the wheels before the car is even in the air.
  3. Tyre changes - 3 crew per corner of the car, each with their specific role. One pulls the wheel off, one operates the wheel gun and one puts the new wheel.
  4. Jack operators – front and rear jack operators and crew working on the lillipop at the front. His job to ensure safety during the pit-stop.
  5. Fixing it fast – The car going up the jacks as the tyre remover takes out the wheel, fitter gets a new one and wheel gun operator fastens the nuts, when fastens, he signals his corner is ready for release and the jack operators on front and rear drops the car, when the lollipop operator sees all 4 hands up, he releases the car.
